Family Day Kite Festival
Saturday, May 24th 2008 10:00am to 6:00pm

Dorchester, MA- Touch 106.1FM is sponsoring and hosting the 2008 “Family Day Kite Festival”. The Kite Festival is a day of family fun featuring kite contests, field games, a cookout, face painting by Quintessence Edutainment, vendors, entertainment, and Touch 106.1 FM Radio personality appearances.

The Kite Festival starts at 10 am but kicks off with entertainment at noon hosted by Touch’s Courtney Boston. A selection of some of Boston’s finest talent will perform. Some of the artists featured are :

The 2008 Family Day Kite Festival will take place at Playstead Field in Franklin Park, Dorchester, MA. Admission is Free. There is public parking available at Franklin Park.

The Kite Festival was founded in 1969 by Boston quilt-maker and visual artist Clara Wainwright, who was a founder of the city’s First Night celebration seven years later. The annual event on Playstead Field drew as many as 30,000 people for kite-flying, face-painting, pony rides, and live music. Touch 106.1 FM strives to revive this fun family event by recreating community awareness.

The 2008 Kite Festival is sponsored by Touch 106.1 FM in part with Frugal Merchandising, Next Level Clothing, The Osiris Group, Sentimental Service Event Staffing, Seaside Kite Company, Be Our Guest, Muhammad’s Mosque, and Kevin Lawyer. Through the support of community businesses Touch 106.1 FM and Quintessence Edutainment will provide a day of family fun to the community by recognizing local talent, and celebrating and establishing connections to the traditions and commitments of communities of color.
